Last Friday concluded Read Across America Week at JHE! Thanks to Mrs. Hage for all the fun incentives/activities built into the week! Today started the SFSD's third Everybody Reads campaign! Through March 22nd, as students complete books, they can add a raindrop under the "Book Rainbow" by the library. It's going to be quite a sight! Reading logs were sent home last week with directions at the bottom of the sheet.

The February HERO breakfast was last Friday. HERO breakfasts serve as an additional way to recognize students and parent volunteers that have exemplified the John Harris CORE values (Helpfulness, Excellence, Respect, Ownership). Nominated by staff members, these students and parent volunteers became recipients of the "Honorable Harris HERO award" for February. K9 Officer Van Voorst, K9 Hugo, and JHE School Resource Officer Vanderhule were our special guests!

A big congratulations to this year's 5th grade flag winner, Kyla Kock! Kyla's flag marks the 33rd flag to be designed by a 5th-grade student and hung at JHE. Her flag represents this year's school theme: Take flight and soar! Congratulations to this year's finalists: Luke Sallar, Paul Jensen, Elyse Klaassen, Adelyn Hotchkin, and Josephine Buss. Thanks to Krista Larson, PTO Flag Chair, for all of her hard work organizing this important JHE tradition! We have amazing artists at JHE! Thank you JHE families for supporting students' creative endeavors!
