Siouxland Libraries is hosting a fun, summer tutoring program for children that are currently in grades Kindergarten - 5th. This is a FREE service thanks to a local non-profit organization, Reading Bridge, Inc.
Trained tutors will meet with their students for one hour twice a week from July 8 - August 2. This program is held at the Prairie West branch on Monday and Wednesday mornings. The are three different one-hour sessions available: 9:00-10:00, 10:15-11:15 or 11:30-12:30. For best results, it is highly encouraged for parents to make sure that their child will be able to attend all eight sessions before registering.

The FREE Summer Meal Program is back again! From May 28 - August 9 breakfast and/or lunch will be served FREE to all children (ages 0 - 18). No application - no paperwork!

March Madness? How about Math Madness!
All classrooms were invited to participate in a "Math Facts Tournament". Students competed against their classmates and then were placed into their classroom’s bracket. From that bracket, students played against other grade level classrooms in a math face-off where they quickly solved math problems presented to them with a flash card. Students were eliminated until there was a champion for each grade level! Congratulations to this year’s Math Champions:
- Easton, 1st Grade
- Bentley, 2nd Grade
- Benny, 3rd Grade
- Luke, 4th Grade
- Caleb, 5th Grade
Champions received a prize and school-wide recognition. Great job, students!

Discovery’s Skate Night is tonight from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Skate City has made some changes since the previous Skate Night to improve the entrance process.
- Doors will open at 5:30 pm to help alleviate line traffic. Families can purchase food from the snack bar prior to the start of skating.
- On the flyer that was sent home (and below), there is a QR code to purchase admission ahead of time. There is a separate FAST TRACK line set up in the lobby for those who purchased admission online.
Can’t make it tonight? No problem! We are having another Discovery Skate Night on May 2, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
A huge THANK YOU to University of South Dakota School of Health Sciences for hosting Career Cafe for our 5th grade students! Students had hands-on learning experiences from professionals and adult students about various Health careers.
It’s that time of year! The Annual Update/Registration is open for the 2024-25 school year. If possible, please complete it before the end of the school year. It is very helpful, so we can process as many as we can before the office closes for summer break.
You will review/update your household and contact information. You will also give your student(s) permission to be included in school publications (school pictures, social media, etc.), go on field trips, and be included in other SFSD photos and videos.

Animals may NOT be brought onto school grounds between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on days when school is in session. This includes bringing animals into the school building. For example:
- No animals on the playground, parking lot, sidewalks, etc. during morning drop-off. Please share this information with whoever drops off your student(s).

- No animals brought into the school at anytime.
