3rd, 4th & 5th grade students learned about Sioux Falls and how the Oceti Sakowin called this area Iŋyaŋ Okábleča Otúŋwahe, meaning Stone scattered living-place (thanks for this info Anna Brokenleg). We discussed how our region is unique because of the Falls and the area around the Big Sioux River. Students learned how today, we have famous landmarks in our city, and we also have a Sioux Falls Flag:
We recreated the imagery of the flag using our school colors, and reminded ourselves to be proud of our school and Sioux Falls community.

Calling all MLB families! Join us at SkateCity to support Marcella LeBeau Elementary on September 29th, December 15th, and April 13th! A portion of the earnings will return to MLB to be used in our building and further learning opportunities for our students. We can't wait to skate with you!

This afternoon, Marcella LeBeau’s own Kayty Mulford (Kindergarten teacher) and Krista Peterka (instructional coach) hosted a coaching lab for SFSD elementary instructional coaches.
Coaching labs provide a unique opportunity for job-embedded professional development, where coaches observe one another in action and then debrief together to reflect, share insights, and strengthen our collective work with teachers.
Today’s lab highlighted the power of collaboration. As a new-to-district teacher, Kayty’s dedication and commitment to her students shined through. Together, she and Krista co-planned a math lesson designed to maximize student engagement—and it was a success!
✨ Way to go, Kayty! We are so grateful for the energy, growth mindset, and commitment you bring to your classroom.
We are proud of Kayty and all of our teachers at Marcella LeBeau. Thank you for making our school a place where collaboration, growth, and student success come first.

We are excited to support The Barrel House's all-day Hungry Hearts Fundraiser benefiting the Angel Fund, which helps ensure every student in the Sioux Falls School District has access to a meal. Come out and enjoy some great food, fun activities (dunk tanks, bouncy house, axe throwing, and more!), and make a difference for our students! Hope to see you there!

Today we celebrated the ribbon cutting of our beautiful Marcella LeBeau Elementary! As community members, educators, and the LeBeau family gathered together, we were reminded of Marcella LeBeau's lasting impact on our community.
Ryman LeBeau, Marcella's grandson, called on us to uphold her loving soul and belief in the power of education as we prepare to welcome students next week. We are honored to continue the legacy of Marcella LeBeau!
